The Finish Line is in Sight...

I've had many times in my life where I feel like a ginormous countdown clock is attached to my head... and its not an easy way to live. I feel like I have so much to do in so little time and I panic and freak out and stress... then the day actually comes and I cry a lot. That's the typical equation. But before that, I always find myself thinking... how did I get here so quickly? I had, for example, eight weeks! How did they disappear to seven little days?....

Thankfully, since I went through these exact questions last November, I have a fairly good idea of how to handle them now. First thing: say everything that needs to be said. I've had a lot of talks with my friends this week and I don't want anything to be forgotten...its really helpful because then I don't wake up at three in the morning panicking because I forgot to tell someone I loved them or about how much they mean to me... stuff like that.

Tuesday night, Glee was on and of course it was amazing (: That show has given me something to look forward to every week and got me through a tough time... I will be so sad to see the season finale. Then Katie, Jess and I went to Cherry Berry, a new yogurt place in Derby. Not as good as Orange Leaf, but we had some great talks and we helped each other through a difficult time. I <3 my girls.

these are screenshots from video, so that's why they are blurry :)

Wednesday was Worlds of Fun (: and it was exactly what I needed to take my mind off the big day... we had soooo much fun. Katie, Jess and I rode the rip cord and we rode every roller coaster once and we ate bad-for-us-food and we just had an amazing time. Until the bus ride home... it started storming (senior trip curse...it is real) and we couldn't sleep because it was leaking ON MY HEAD and every time I would sleep, I'd have a nightmare that the van James and Chris were in was crashing because of the heavy rain. It was a looong ride home. The best part was the stop at Wendy's where we all shared horror stories of the ride and entertaining stories of the day. And the frosties... those too.

Thursday I stayed home (: I didn't care enough to go plus I had soooo much to do. The bus got back 2 hours after we were supposed to, I was sun burned, I had cut my foot and I was in a bad mood. I went to Perkins' class then left. I did my psych final (92!!), Calculus, Physics, and James' resume so he wouldn't fail advisory. Once I got all better, Friday was a cinch. It was my last Friday ever and I was super sad, but Monday is going to be soooooooo much worse. Friday night, I took Katie to see Night of the Living Dead, our schools spring play... it was a bad idea.... Since I don't want to hurt my friends who worked so hard on the plays feelings, I'm not going to talk about it. After, I rode with James to Village Inn, a theater tradition! I missed my theater friends soooo much this year... it was my first year without it. I did four shows at MHS, each time in a different area. We talked and laughed and watched James and Kenneth down bottles of syrup (nasty) and ate pie. Then James brought me home after we talked for a while and I got ready for my morning with KWCH (:

Saturday I went with my mom to Corporate Caterers and ate breakfast and got my picture taken and clip filmed for KWCH's Top of the Class. So from now on, look on KWCH.com and watch the news and look for me representing Mulvane High! I can't show pics because I want it to be a surprise... sorta lol.
That night, I went with Katie and her family and rodeo friends to Mosley Street Melodrama to see their version of GLEE! It was possibly the best night of my life. I laughed and cried and ate great food and downed two slushies (so did Katie) (: One of the actors was amazingly good looking and could sing like a God... he was a bass, tenor, alto, and soprano all in one. So amazing! After the show, Katie and her mom and dad helped me get a pic and his autograph! He's done off broadway shows, so he may become famous again and I can say I met him!! (: (He also played Kurt in the show, which is my favorite character in Glee!)

So today is my wrap up day! Get ready for my party on Saturday and finish all my work :) I am so nervous, but very excited.. I see the light at the end of the tunnel! Or maybe the finish line on the first leg of the race...

Goin' Back to Bed...

I cannot be happy enough this week is finally over... I really can't.

Wednesday- AP TEST
The test gave me a headache, lets just go with that. I am thinking a 2, maybe 3, out of 5... which isn't usually how I go into tests thinking, but I know I won't use this test for credit, just practice. I will take it again at KU and hopefully it will click more the second time around. But I'm thinking Chris probably got a four or five so I am definitely rooting for him. (:

Thursday- Worst Day Ever
I hated Thursday. First hour- I get to class and we continue with Schindler's List... I spent the entire time trying not to cry or vomit. Then second hour physics. That class was just a headache. I don't know how to draw ray diagrams and I don't care. Topics? Black Hawk Down.. again I spent the entire end of the movie trying no to sob uncontrollably or throw up. People say "How can you be a doctor if you can't watch someones leg getting blown off?" UMMMM, Let's see. I put it back ON. I do not need to see it getting blown off. I had a serious discussion with myself a couple months ago about becoming a military doctor.. best training, they pay for it, and I get to travel. Then I saw this movie.. It's not happening. Later, the English 1 class I'm an aide for watched Romeo and Juliet, which is hands down my favorite Shakespeare. I'm a hopeless romantic and I love watching romances... but today was the end of the movie where they both die and cry over each other's dead bodies. Of course it would be the class full of freshmen, so I tried to focus on grading papers and not on how hard this was for me to watch. I came home and had a letter from KSHSAA waiting for me. I didn't get the Wanda May Vinson scholarship I had fought for... so I came back to my room and had a really hard time doing my homework. It was psych-night and I had 2 chapters worth due at eleven. But I couldn't focus, so I went and sat with my parents and cried for a while. It was just that kind of depressing day. I went to bed with very little work done, a monster headache, and two episodes of Glee watched.

Friday- well, it was Friday...
I went to school praying that it was going to be better then Thursday. I mean, honestly, how much worse could it get? It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. It was an average head-ache filled day at school: making the biggest to-do-list ever for this weekend, getting told someone wasn't going to their job because they are lazy, having to write the stupidest letter ever, and getting ditched. Awesome. I did get to see my cousins at the track meet and get outside which was nice, then I came home with a horrible headache and sinus issues... I layed down with my iPod and watched Glee. I don't remember falling asleep, but I must have because my mom came in and said I fell asleep with my contacts in again. I had so much to do last night so I was super angry at myself, but also glad I got so much sleep. I was out before nine (the exact time is unknown) and up before eight. Strange. But I couldn't breathe through my nose so I ate something, then laid back down to watch more Glee and be lazy. I took a long shower to try and stream my lungs clear and here I am trying to decide whether or not to go to a grad party... I really just want to sleep all day... but I have papers to write and speeches to think up and grad presents to finish and letters to write and I graduate in two weeks... good lord...

Maybe I will go back to sleep.

Next Week:
Monday: I'm forseeing a fairly typical day, except Mrs. Perkins is coming back from her materinty leave and I'm a little nervous... but I can't wait to see her and talk to her. Last Speech class as well!! I got a 95 on my last speech :) Ironically, thats the same grade I got on my Topics paper that was due the day of the Royal Wedding... go me. (:
Tuesday: Again, I'm thinking fairly typical. English Project and Topics Extra Credit due. Teachers are probably very sick of us by now, lol.
Wednesday: WORLDS OF FUN!! :) I can't wait!!! :D
Thursday: This day will suck after WoF. I can feel it. Psych final due at 11 pm. 200 True/ False questions... crap.
Friday: My last Friday of School. :'( I will definetly be crying.
Saturday: My day with KWCH!! I'll be on TV and online! I'll post links and pictures as soon as I can.

Don't Stop Believin', Mulvane High

The most amazing this happened to me today!!

I can't even describe how happy I was all day!!

Ok, I'll start from the beginning (:

So, last night I fell asleep around eight, right after Glee, which is highly unusual for me to take naps (no matter how much as I want to). I woke up this morning feeling angry that I got nothing done, and like something a truck just ran over. I somehow made it to school on time and read the announcements like always.

But when I got to Mrs. Webb's room... something strange happened. The whole staff was wearing identical t-shirts (which isn't odd; our staff loves to wear Mulvane shirts) that said Don't Stop Believin' on the back... and for about 90 seconds.. something was nagging at my previous days memories... and suddenly, I remembered what it was.

Mrs Milledge (my calc teacher): "Tomorrow after the talent show, the administration and staff have an announcement to make."

I put 2 and 2 together faster then I believe I ever have at 9 am.

THE STAFF WAS GOING TO DANCE TO GLEE!

I just knew it. I had no proof, no staff slips, nothing. It's very difficult to keep secrets at Mulvane High, so I thought if something was going on, someone would have said something. But I was so sure that I was right. I told Nicole who also thought if something was going to happen, someone would have let it slip. So, I went throughout the day praying I was right because I needed something to lift my spirits (plus it was GLEE!!). I also debated about going to the talent show or going and working for an hour and a half. After my hopeful epiphany in English, however, that didn't look likely. So, at one-thirty, Nicole, Katie, Brandon, Kelsey and I sat in a row waiting to see if I was right....

At 2:15... I got my answer.

It was incredible. I cried from sheer happiness and excitement and it was exactly what I needed to get me through the next week. I have always loved Mulvane High and its staff... but this defiantly made me love them more.  The dude at the end was our superintendent with our mascot. Katie, Nicole and I (and the entire auditorium) (but especially Nicole) were SCREAMING the entire time so there is a lot of noise over the music. Click here to hear the Glee version of Don't Stop Believin’ better. My video is on Youtube and Facebook as well if this is not easy to watch.

Thank you MHS staff, and thank you Ohio State for giving them the idea :)

April Showers bring May... Graduations?!

So April has started off fan-freakin-tastic. (: I mean that too.

Friday, April 1st- PowderPuff Football

The powderpuff game was pretty fun. I got to hang out with Katie and Shy, and I found out I do really like football... I just don't like certain people who ruin it for everyone. Oh well, I'm sure KU has a PowderPuff league or something similar lol. Maybe I can even find one that's tackle football... :D Flag football is definitely harder then tackle football...a flag is way smaller and harder to grab then a leg. But it was a good experience and I did enjoy it for the most part... mainly because I had the first defensive flag pull ;)

Right after I pulled Kellyn's flag!

Katie and I on the Defensive Line :)

The whole team and coaches.

These girls made it fun :)

Saturday, April 2nd- Mr. Wildcat Pageant

Saturday started with going to the mall with James to rent his tux for prom. We lapped the mall probably about 5 times just walking, making fun of people, making fun of each other and their shopping habits... etc. Then I came home and got ready for the Mr. Wildcat Pageant rehearsal and such... but as soon as I got to the high school... Chris McDaniel needed me to do his music and his computer didn't have the burning program mine does.... go figure. So I'm running back and forth all afternoon between home (Internet) and school (where I'm supposed to be). We ended up getting it fine and I felt like a computer geek, but it was all worth it (: I had so much fun with my other escorts! This was the best group ever and we all got along great and just had a blast with the guys.

Escorts :)
Rylee :) He's definitely a winner in my book :)

No Shoes...
But very fun :)
Congrats Jon! :)

I even got to speak after my video for the Ronald McDonald House Charities!! It was short, but so much fun and I got a lot of complements for it... I am just happy I got to speak to my biggest crowd... for now ;) practice makes perfect.. :D

Sunday, April 3rd - Lawrence and Honors Reception

So way back in the day...like October.... I was accepted into the University of Kansas Honors Program. (Honors Program Blog)  This past Sunday, they invited a bunch of us who had been accepted into the program already to meet other students, professors and directors. I've met some of them many times so it's nice to see some familiar faces in such a new environment. I am verrrrrry excited to be a part of the honors program and all that it has to offer.... especially the undergraduate research. I have so many ideas floating through my head... Protein S deficiency studies... genetic studies... psychological studies... my list is endless. And so are my opportunities. (: Later, my mom and I went on a walk around campus...did we know it would turn into a two hour "We-won't-get-lost!" kinda trip?...no. But it did anyways. (: I also took well into 100 pictures... the full album with edited pictures are on facebook, but my favorites are below (: While we stayed the night on campus, a HUGE thunder/hail/lightning/rain storm blew through. It was intense. I guess its true what they saw about April Showers...

Strong Hall :)

Jayhawk outside of Union :)

Union!

Outside of practice fields:)

On the side of my hotel.

The... I forget... lol

Oread from a distance (:

Stadium (:
McCollum Hall!! :) and i didn't alter this at all :)

Monday, April 4th- Scholars Day

This day would mark the 4th time I've been to campus...and it was completely different then any other time I've seen it. We went to the science hall (Mallott), saw millions of dollars worth of lab equipment, I got to (correctly) answer a question in a Micro Lab, we went into a real organic chemistry class, we toured the new Pharmacy building (I may be changing my KU graduate program lol.. this building was amazing!!!), and we sat basically one on one with honors students who were in our boat just a few years ago... it was so worth it and so memorable. (: Rock Chalk! <3

It's right down the road from my dorm :)

School of Pharmacy (:
Tuesday, April 5th- Mulvane High School

Ugh. Back to school... definitely not as fun as Lawrence. I survived however, came home, worked out for a few hours, ate dinner, went tanning and watched Glee!! (: My evening has been made and I am happy... I even got my family to watch it with me... I think Erynn and Mom might be coming around... ;) Maybe... ;)
Schedule this week is fairly light, I just have lots to do in a wide open time frame... a little unusual for me but hey... that's college life! ;)

SPRING BREAK!

Break is finally here!! And not a moment too soon... it has been a long and difficult week.

I guess I am stuck here in Mulvane for at least the majority of break. :/ Bummer. I'm trying to talk James into going to Kansas City for a day or so.. I'm not sure if I will win that fight. We'll see.

I will relent and say maybe it's a good thing I am staying home.. I have a huge to-do-list to accomplish!

*Send Mr. Wildcat Letters out
*College Homework
*Scholarships
*High School Homework
*Cheer DVD
*KAY DVD
*Ronald McDonald DVD
*Begin Watergate Reesearch Project
*Type Spanish Notebook
*Email RMHC People
*Tan/ Workout everyday...
*Etc.

Tomorrow I have to take my car in for work, Sunday we are trying to go to Tulsa for the KU game (ROCK CHALK!! <3), Monday I am working for Jaima by going bowling and getting paid for it, and Tuesday I'd like to go to KC, Wednesday there is a concert I'd like to go to, and then the rest of the week is the list above.
Yeah maybe staying home isn't so bad...

Grades are in!!!!! (: I am very lucky to not have taken a midterm in ANY of my nine classes; college or high school. I had a few tests this week to kill the quarter, but nothing I freaked out about. I received a 97 on my Macbeth test and a 100 for my calc test. (: We watched the Magic School Bus in Physics (sorry, Justin), watched basketball in calc, and ate animal crackers in yearbook. What a great Friday!

College (:

High School (:
Yeah that's what I'm talking about ;) (Click on pics to make larger.)

Also, I still didn't have a roommate as of 3 pm central standard time today, so I called the KU people and explained I really didn't want to live on the ninth floor, it was the only option given to me. So we did some switching and I am now moving into room 407 which I hand picked based on the numbers. I am a huge numbers person and really hope this is a good omen.

7= July, 7, lucky seven, seventeen, etc
4= four years of collge (hey, maybe less!)
11= grad year
And I'm sure there are many other random meanings I could make up, but I am definitely a 7 person. (:
I'm hoping this gets me a roommate faster (:

In other KU news, my Men's Basketball team won against Boston tonight!!!!!!! We are on our way to an awesome March Madness victory!!

Rock Chalk. <3

PS. Brandon, Katie, and family, please have a safe trip flying to and on your cruise. (I'm jealous but) Have fun!

Quick update from Spanish =)

The doctors finally called about my blood work...all normal. I do go into the office again to draw more blood this afternoon for the big test... better drink some water lol
Cheer banquet is tonight! I can't wait! I love banquets because its always a good time with my girls. <3
And surprise! Katie and I signed up for powder puff football today!! Can you say guard?! ;) Its the day before Mr. Wildcat which is the day before I leave for Lawrence! So April is going to start out amazing!
Pics tomorw! <3

Falling apart at Seventeen!

I'm seventeen. Young and ready to take on the world...

That is, if my body will let me.

I went to the doctors this afternoon to check on my ankle and my tendency to bruise. I can dance for hours and not feel any pain or anything when all of a sudden, I'll have monster bruises and bumps on my body later that I never felt. Or I can go to sleep at night fine and wake up with bruises... it's nuts. They think I'm anemic or I have a blood disorder like my dad... but what's funny is mind kind of seems like the exact opposite of his. I call it the Edward/Renesme syndrome. (Find a Twlighter to explain that or look it up ;) )

I have always bruised easily.. but this is baaaad. (See Winter HC post for similar battle wounds.)

I could still dance at least.. :/

The doctors drew four vials of blood and should let us know soon what they find. I have to go back in soon to have more taken for the test to find out if I have what my dad does. Good thing I have no issue (in fact, I enjoy) giving blood!
I got a pretty band-aid at least!
Some good news is my foot isn't broken or fractured. She agrees it could be a busted blood vessel or a sprain and says I should ice it for a while. Good thing I am done cheering and that I'm not playing soccer I guess... (:

The third quarter ends Friday and I am ready for it. I am not sure if I'll get all A's but I do know I definitely will for the semester... so I'm trying not to give myself a coronary over it and let the little things go. It's a struggle, but I'm working on it. I don't think anything less then 4 F's will take away my valedictorian spot lol. I have enough cushion from AP US History that I should be ok.

Also about school, I was voted my class's Most Likely to Succeed and Most Likely to Cure Cancer! I was thrilled!! Jordan Nooney and Evan Landes are who I won with for 'Succeed' and Chris Langstaff for 'Cancer.' I cannot wait to break out my scrubs again! (: I'll post the pictures this weekend after we take them on Friday.

Even though I'm no longer Cheering, I'm happy to say at least one Hanna will continue cheering! Erynn made JV Basketball last Saturday and I was thrilled for her! She will have a blast with Megan, Katie and all the girls. Shae is trying out for Middle School Cheer next week and I'm praying she gets it! I would've been so cool if all three of us had been cheering on three different squads at the same time! What a photo op. (: But I'm sure there will be plenty of pics of Erynn and I (and maybe Shae!) in our uniforms soon.

Go Erynn! (:

This week has been a roller coaster already. And with the cheer banquet on Friday, something going on Saturday, and homework on Sunday... I guess I'll have to wait for Spring Break for a break!
<3

PS. Good luck to Mom with Jury Duty next week!!

To-Do-Lists.. (:

I am probably the queen of to-do-lists. This started all the way back in my freshmen year in Mr. Dierks's class when I had no will to listen to him talk. So all hour I'd make a list of things I needed to do that night and I'd check stuff off as I went. It got a lot bigger last year with pre-calc, AP US History, cheer, work and everything else (Spanish is when I chose to do it ;) ).

So today in Spanish when I finished my quiz, I found my post it notes and made my daily to-do-list. I have post its EVERYWHERE! I change them all the time and just stick them wherever I need them. I doodle, write notes, lyrics, lyrics in spanish, lists, whatever. In calculus, I use them to torment people, or write down funny things people said that day. I do that in all my classes actually...

Speaking of calculus, I discovered the other day I am the ONLY person in my class taking the AP exam...thanks guys. I'll probably have to retake or audit a calc 1 class next year in Lawrence, but Mrs. Milledge thinks I can well on the test and that I know more then I think I do...let's hope she's right.
In more school news, a few weeks ago I sent in my application to be a Junior Counselor at StuCo camp which I had a BLAST at this summer... and I'm getting anxious. My JC, Eric, said it takes some time...but I am NOT a patient person. Never have been. And since I didn't turn in my app for KAY camp (because I had no idea where I'd be this summer...) I only have one shot at being a counselor... and I reallllllllllllly want to go back. (:

Also about school, they pulled all the seniors today to have a meeting about graduation...guess which idiot raised her hand when they asked if we wanted graduation indoors... yeah that would be me. I do! I love the outdoors and all, but this is Kansas and I know better. Plus, when I'm speaking, I want people to hear me and see me... no wind, rain, blazing hot sun or distractions... BUT I also don't want to have a limited number of tickets... oh well there were only four of us who raised our hands.
I'm excellent at picking my battles now.
And this isn't one of them.
<3

This is my typical TDL. And yes, I have to write down SHOWER and SLEEP and EAT or else I won't.
This is my Spanish book with lyrics written in Spanish on it... i find those purple Post Its EVERYWHERE.

Almost there... (:

What a week!

On Monday we had our girls day and I had a BLAST!! :) I have written blogs on my friends before that say how much I love them only because it's true. We always have such a good time when we get together. We went to the mall and shopped shopped shopped!! :) My favorite thing on earth! Then we went to Target to look for swimsuits. Then I had to go to college :/ But I got an A on my quiz and had a good time with my table so it was a successful day! Here are some awesome pics :)

Allyson and I trying on ugly prom dresses lol

We are all ready for Spring! Jess and I ended up getting our dresses.

We bought the same dress!! Lol

The girls (:

Jess and I after we got home (:

Jess took these next few! She did awesome lol

I colored them on Photoshop for added awesomeness :)

Good thing I can drive with all these distractions ;)
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday were a cycle of school, more school, work, work, no sleep, headaches, and just plain ughs. Wednesday was beautiful. It was nice out and a fairly good day... Yesterday? Not so much. On our way to cheer at Buhler, the roads just got worse and worse so once we reached Mt. Hope, we had to turn around. We ended up eating out together for some team bonding when we got home. It was a good night with my (other) girls :)

Today.

Well this morning was rough. I could not focus for the life of me. It was awful. Mr. Heath, my physics teacher suggested I clean out everything to de-clutter my mind... I did. EVERYTHING. My lockers, backpack, notebooks, binders... It was nice getting rid of a bunch of crap and putting everything in its place.  Which is unusal for me, but hey... I'm an unusual person. (:
Next Saturday is cheer tryouts for the underclassmen...
There is two more weeks until the end of the third nine weeks...
Three weeks until Spring Break...
52 more school days until graduation :) I am almost there...

<3
