New Experiences

As you all know (or if you are reading this, you should), I am a HUGE Gleek! I started watching Glee about a year ago to get through my boredom known as Spring Break. It happened to be the winter finale and the show then took a four week hiatus. Well, I guess Glee's schedule is moving too fast this year, because on Tuesday, Fox aired Glee's third season's winter finale and all I have to say is Oh My God...

In it, one of the characters attempted to commit suicide and another is in a car accident while texting. It's safe to say Glee doesn't always have it's comedic roots firmly grounded, but I am proud to be a fan of a show that covers issues that many shows won't go near. Many people probably want to argue with me when I say how much I love Glee, but I really couldn't care less. It holds a special place in my heart and it teaches me life lessons from time to time. This happens to be one of those times.

In this particularly eventful episode, Mr. Shue tells the group that no matter how bad it gets, think of all the experiences you could miss out on. Graduating, going to college, getting married, having a family. Or even the little one's such as eating peanut butter for the first time.

So, this got me thinking. What are the experiences I'm most looking forward to? Besides the obvious of graduating KU with a plethora of certifications, going to KU Med, graduating KU Med, getting married and having kids, of course.

Well, I want to sky dive someday. And parasail. And regain my back handspring. And learn to do a straight-legged scorpion (hey! it could happen!). None of this experiences will necessarily define me or my life goals, however, I can't imagine living my life without some of these seemingly trivial experiences (or attempting them).

Like the first time I walked through KU's Anschutz library. There are THOUSANDS of books down here and I get to study amongst them. It still gets me sometimes how the little things about this campus move me so much. Or the first time I saw Star Wars or Harry Potter.... who knew how much those movies would impact me?! Or the first time I Rock Climbed.

Yes, I rock climbed. (: It was Wednesday night after our Student Senate meeting and I was DYING to climb this wall. Jessica and Claire refused to climb with me since they are afraid of heights, but they stayed on the ground and supported me and navigated for me when my sight was limited. It was so much fun! The only thing is, the guy told me to use my (all-powerful, cheer) legs when climbing so my arms wouldn't get tired... Well, it took time for me to adjust to the thought of "If I fall, I'm not going anywhere." So, when I was five rocks away from the top (and the bell), I had to tap out. I thought I was too short and there was no way I could do it with zero arm strength.

So I WILL be back and I WILL ring that bell before Spring Break. It takes 66 days to make a habit and Jessica, Claire and I have been at the rec center for over an hour for the last two nights climbing, raquetballing, running, kickboxing and walking. Completely new, and exciting experiences that I wouldn't want to ever lose...

2 stories high.
Trying to smile, but I'm coming down, so that's tricky lol

Battle Wounds! You can't see them well, but that bruise on my left leg is nasty.

MOTIVATION! It's on my wall above my bed.

PS. This is a straight-legged scorpion.

Me && My BCGs (:

It's been a weird few days around here... slightly eventful, but mostly just weird,...

Friday I was called into cooking class early, so I dragged my butt outta bed and went to make some orange julius' and french toast. After work, I went straight to James' and woke him up and laid with him until he was fully awake. He was not very happy with me, but I needed my friend. The night before, Katie came and kept me company by taking walk around town with me and getting a Sonic treat (: I stayed with James until he kicked me out at one in the morning, with the exception of the hour I went home to shower. I really have the two best friends I could ever ask for. They put up with me more then I deserve...<3

Ha. Don't we make a funny bunch? ;)
Saturday was a lazy day I believe.. I don't remember much except going to work out and I may have gone to Erynn's softball tourney... I am totally unsure lol. Sunday was much more eventful. We went to Erynn's game at noon, then I raced to work at 1:45. I now assist a gymnastics class at the MRC on Sundays and it was a blast!! I love working with kids. (: Then I raced home to change and spray some good smelling stuff on me and race to the championship game! The Wildcats won and we were all covered in dirt and sweat to prove it! I believe it was 102 and the winds blew dirt anywhere and everywhere... it was NASTY. However, I had to the race to Caitlin's to pick her up and take her to see Megan, our old cheer coach, whose grandmother had just passed away. I finally got home at seven-ish.... "TAYLOR, WE NEED YOU TO GO TO THE STORE!"

Of Course.

So Erynn and I race to the store and gas station to make it back in time for the Glee Project... we made it and I finally had time to just SIT! It was a good end to a very long and exciting day.

Today was kinda poopy in its own way... I had a doctors appointment to get my Meningococcal Vaccine (yeah I copied and pasted that.) Now, if you know me, I love shots and needles and stuff and things like that.. it fascinates me. I just remember the last time I had a shot, it hurt for a long time afterwards and made me cranky.

This time was no exception.

Erynn was even less happy... she got two. One in each arm. And yes, like a good sister, I held her hand. We got Sonic, came home and passed out on the couch in too much pain to move. My arm was sore for a very long time and was even tingling and burning for a while, but I also attribute that to my sunburn and my soreness from doing so much gymnastics (out of practice) yesterday.

The smiles were fake...fyi.

Snoopy band-aid (:

After I got home from the doctor... I noticed my eye was hurting. And I knew exactly what was happening because I've been here before... I just really hoped I was wrong..

Nope. I have another stye.

It's freaking huge. I have no idea where it came from but OMG... yeah, looks like I'll be stuck in my glasses for a few days... even though I despise wearing them in public. And I know.. I love posting pics of my injuries and battle wounds because I'm so darn proud of them... but sorry guys.. me and my BCGs are hiding out for a few days.

<3

PS. good luck, chris. <3 i'll miss you.

see you soon, dude (:

Falling apart at Seventeen!

I'm seventeen. Young and ready to take on the world...

That is, if my body will let me.

I went to the doctors this afternoon to check on my ankle and my tendency to bruise. I can dance for hours and not feel any pain or anything when all of a sudden, I'll have monster bruises and bumps on my body later that I never felt. Or I can go to sleep at night fine and wake up with bruises... it's nuts. They think I'm anemic or I have a blood disorder like my dad... but what's funny is mind kind of seems like the exact opposite of his. I call it the Edward/Renesme syndrome. (Find a Twlighter to explain that or look it up ;) )

I have always bruised easily.. but this is baaaad. (See Winter HC post for similar battle wounds.)

I could still dance at least.. :/

The doctors drew four vials of blood and should let us know soon what they find. I have to go back in soon to have more taken for the test to find out if I have what my dad does. Good thing I have no issue (in fact, I enjoy) giving blood!
I got a pretty band-aid at least!
Some good news is my foot isn't broken or fractured. She agrees it could be a busted blood vessel or a sprain and says I should ice it for a while. Good thing I am done cheering and that I'm not playing soccer I guess... (:

The third quarter ends Friday and I am ready for it. I am not sure if I'll get all A's but I do know I definitely will for the semester... so I'm trying not to give myself a coronary over it and let the little things go. It's a struggle, but I'm working on it. I don't think anything less then 4 F's will take away my valedictorian spot lol. I have enough cushion from AP US History that I should be ok.

Also about school, I was voted my class's Most Likely to Succeed and Most Likely to Cure Cancer! I was thrilled!! Jordan Nooney and Evan Landes are who I won with for 'Succeed' and Chris Langstaff for 'Cancer.' I cannot wait to break out my scrubs again! (: I'll post the pictures this weekend after we take them on Friday.

Even though I'm no longer Cheering, I'm happy to say at least one Hanna will continue cheering! Erynn made JV Basketball last Saturday and I was thrilled for her! She will have a blast with Megan, Katie and all the girls. Shae is trying out for Middle School Cheer next week and I'm praying she gets it! I would've been so cool if all three of us had been cheering on three different squads at the same time! What a photo op. (: But I'm sure there will be plenty of pics of Erynn and I (and maybe Shae!) in our uniforms soon.

Go Erynn! (:

This week has been a roller coaster already. And with the cheer banquet on Friday, something going on Saturday, and homework on Sunday... I guess I'll have to wait for Spring Break for a break!
<3

PS. Good luck to Mom with Jury Duty next week!!
